Baytree Cookery Class

Here at the Baytree we run cookery classes every week for the girls. The class has proven to be a success and one of the most popular classes. In the last autumn term the cookery theme was 'World Cookery' which were all savoury dishes. The girls explored a variety of international dishes such as Greek style baked chicken with feta, Chinese sweet and sour chicken and our famous old spaghetti bolognese from Italy.

The girls have been really enjoying learning to bake and cook the various recipes. This term the girls are baking. So far they have done muffins, Victoria sponge cake, chocolate fudge cake, fairy cakes, chin chin biscuits; which in is an African style of biscuits.
Today the girls are making Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing and white Chocolate Mud Cake (yum!).

If you are interested in baking any of these yourselves check out the recipes on the next page...

Baytree are Recruiting a New Youth Forum

Calling all girls 14-19 years old, The Baytree Centre Youth department are recruiting a new Youth Forum!

We are in search of 15 bright, inspiring, dedicated young ladies who are passionate about helping out in the community. By this we mean creating opportunities for other young females that will motivate them to develop their creative, academic skills as well as their confidence.

We only require you to come to The Baytree Centre fortnightly for meetings with our Youth Engagement Officer (our lovely Lynnike). This will be to plan and manage activities and events that you would like at The Baytree Centre. You will be a positive role model to the other girls here.

It's a great opportunity, being an ex youth forum member myself I can say there were many benefits of joining;

  • I managed to develop my own confidence, talents and interpersonal skills.

  • Its nice to know that I have given back to the community. The meetings are only every fortnight yet are very productive in terms of planing and managing the new events and activities.

  • There is an amazing sense of achievement in seeing the end result and how projects turn out.

The overall experience is positive and enjoyable and I would recommend it to girls who are willing to commit to this project.
